Defining 'Right' and 'Wrong'

The pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong.

Right, wrong.

Two strong words that rule every action, decision and feeling in our life. Our every step is first categorized under either 'yes its right' or 'no its wrong'. But who determines it? Who makes these rules? Its amazing to see how even the most similar people may have completely different definition of the same. Ultimately everything is carried out either by choice (refusing to leave one’s comfort zone) or by force (given to parental/peer pressure). Growing up I went through a great turmoil within regarding most of the cliché moral stigmas in our society. Now the strange part is that these values change as per the family, gender, place, situation, person, environment and society. A child living with a family is sometimes even denied an innocent lunch with friends under the pretext of family priorities. However, the same child, if staying out of town, may party every night and get away with it.. Again, if we connect it to our Indian wedding systems, some families embrace their kid’s choice with open arms and happily accept his/her love. To other few, love marriage is still such an alien concept that untimely the couple elopes to find happiness in the arms of their true love.

Whatever way we put it, ultimately right and wrong are just synonymous to the prevalent double standards, they are forever exploited to one’s favor. If only there was an objective right and wrong to be followed universally, there would be less confusion in this chaotic world.. Oh well, just a wishful thinking!
